Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

Despite being only 4 years old Magento was confirmed as the market leader for ecommerce websites in a recent survey by Alexa of the top 1 million sites

A couple of years back the team at bNetCentric decided to stop developing our own ecommerce systems and focus on becoming Magento experts.

2 years and 500 sites later we know this was the right decision and it is good to see that the market agrees with us, the more people that use the platform the more extension and designs will become available to help us build better websites for lower budgets

We now have our own bespoke install of Magento and quite a few of our own extensions for different applications – why not take a look at what we can offer by visiting our Magento ecommerce website standard packages page

New Facebook Buttons Launched

Saturday, January 7th, 2012

One of the biggest advantages of using the leading ecommerce platform Magento is that many features and ideas can be incorporated into your website as soon as they are introduced and with very little cost

This is certainly true about the new buttons that have just been released by Facebook as part of its latest marketing push. The new “Want” and “Own” Facebook buttons are perfect for driving social based traffic to your Magento based website

The social buttons can be easily installed on product and catalog pages and are provided as a Magento core extension for Magento Community and Enterprise.

So what do all these new buttons mean for the now infinitely popular Facebook Like?

We like to think it would offer a more personal and in-depth Facebook than Like already does. Of course there will be massive potential for advertisers, but also the possibility to make the social network more directly related to your interests.

Watch this space as we expect quite a few more new buttons in 2012

eCommerce for Promotional Products – it is possible!!

Saturday, October 22nd, 2011

Many people in the promotional products industry have told me that eCommerce will not work in their industry because what they sell is made to order and most products have too many options that need explaining to their customers

Now this sounds like a challenge to me and after studying the market we discovered that quite a few companies in the US where now doing very substantial sales online Branders.com probably being the most high profile

At this point we received a phone call from one of our customers asking whether we thought it was possible to build an ecommerce site for promotional products – 4 months later we are pleased to announce the launch of promoexpert.co.uk

Building on some of the features we found looking at the US market we used the Magento framework and a couple of new extension developed by ourselves to create what we believe is a simple to use end to end ecommerce solution for promotional products

End user feedback so far has been very favourable and we have a happy client – now all they need is to generate some visitors and enjoy substantially lower admin costs – it must be why the prices on their site are substantially lower than most of their competitors

This all just goes to show that ecommerce nowadays is about more than just selling stock items online – it is and will continue to change the way almost every business works

The other main challenge for the industry is getting product data in the right format. At this stage data has to be manually modified as product suppliers are not used to providing it in the right format for ecommerce but as more companies start to sell products online this will have to change and the suppliers offering ecommerce ready product data will have a competitive advantage. At the moment processing product data for ecommerce still represents quite a time consuming task

If you think ecommerce will not work in your market sector then please give us a call we love a challenge
