Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

I have now managed to stop taking paper and pen to meetings as at bNetCentric we have gone totally cloud based for all our systems so I can get access to everything I want from my iPad. This includes customer records in Capsule CRM EMail, Calendar & Documents in Google Docs and Accounts in Kashflow

However I have also started to discover loads of really useful apps that make my day to day life easier – here are my current top 5 and how I find them so useful

1. Analytics Agent Pro – connects to my Google Analytics to give instant website analysis

2. SEO Ranking – integrates with Google so I can check the SEO performance of all my keywords

3. Feedler RSS – integrates with my Google Reader so I can read useful updates about selected products when I have the time

4. SiteAnalyser – gives you instant SEO analysis of any website URL

5. iMargin – powerful margin calculation just type in percentage, cost price or selling price – it even add the VAT

There are loads more  and I will feature them in future blog posts – but these are definitely saving me time and money every day

Science Jobs App now live in the App Store

Saturday, June 25th, 2011

Our latest App build for the UKs leading independant science recruitment specialist CK Science has just made it into the App store without needing any revisions

We are particularly proud of this application as it incorporates two really powerful features that we think will make life easier for job seekers and make this a very popular app

a) ‘My Shortlist’ option which allows app users to build their own shortlist of jobs and then just store or apply for individually or en masse
b) ‘Distance from me’ option which allows the user to select the distance from their current location where they would like to look for jobs

The app has so far had great feedback and updates automatically from a live RSS feed of jobs – so the lastest jobs are always featured

The difference between mobile apps and mobile websites?

Friday, February 4th, 2011

Common questions we get asked at bNetCentric are ” What is the difference between mobile apps and mobile websites? and do I really need either of them?”

To help explain the difference between apps and websites we have created this chart

Difference between a mobile website and app

In answer to the 2nd question the answer has to be yes – the 5 main reasons are listed below

  1. Google expect 65% of all searches to be on mobile devices by 2015
  2. Users do not like websites that are not optimised for mobile viewing
  3. If people use your website on a regular basic then an app may well be a crowd pleaser
  4. There are lots of useful tools that can only be used on a mobile such as push notifications and geo location
  5. iTunes App Store is probably the 3rd most used search engine

The really good news is that developing your own app or website does not have to cost a fortune – take a look at our mobile development options
