Despite increased competition from Android in December 2011 tha Apple iOS operating system still accounted for more than 50% of all mobile Internet usage
The iPhone accounted for 26% of traffic with the balance made up of iPad and iPod users. android was down at 16%
With this kind of data it backs up the decision of many companies to develop content for the iPhone first rather than trying to focus on all mobile channels at once
Although it is tempting to develop a platform independent web app there is still a lot of mileage in a dedicated iPhone / iPad app and with development costs as low as £500 the rapid growth of the iTunes app store is set to continue
